چکیده
A field experiment was conducted during pre-rainy (kharif) seasons of 2019 and 2020 at Research Farm ICAR Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, Sikkim Centre, Tadong, Gangtok, to evaluate the performance maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars under organic management condition. Twelve maize, viz. ‘Seti Makkai’, ‘Pahenlo ‘Rato ‘Baiguni ‘Kalo ‘Satheya’, ‘RCM 1–1’, 1–3’, ‘RCM–75’ ‘Vivek Sankul 31’, 37’ 35’ were evaluated system in randomized complete block design. The results showed that cultivar Makkai’ recorded significantly maximum plant height (305 cm) as compared other cultivars. highest dry-matter accumulation (81 g/plant) registered which superior remaining leaf-area index (4.35) minimum days required 50% flowering (61 days) noticed 35’. As cultivars, cob length (16.7 1-1’. 31’ higher girth (13.4 than others. Number rows/cob (12.9) Maximum number grains/row (36.8). grain yield (3.97 t/ha) economic benefits with Short- duration found most promising terms productivity profitability may be recommended cultivation by farmers Himalayas similar agroecoregions production system.

Effect of Nutrition Management and Application of Zeolite on Fertilizer Use Efficiency and Water Productivity in Two Maize Cultivars (Zea mays L.) under Deficit Irrigation Conditions
Abstract: To investigate the effect of nutrition management along with zeolite application on the fertilizer use efficiency and irrigation water productivity of two cultivars of maize under deficit irrigation conditions, a field experiment was carried out. The experiment was conducted at Soil and Water Research Institute, Karaj, Iran, in 2015 and 2016, in the form of a factorial split plot...
متن کاملPhosphorus and Compost Management Influence Maize (Zea mays) Productivity Under Semiarid Condition with and without Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria
Phosphorus (P) unavailability and lack of organic matter in the soils under semiarid climates are the two major constraints for low crop productivity. Field trial was conducted to study the effects of P levels, compost application times and seed inoculation with phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) on the yield and yield components of maize (Zea mays L., cv. Azam). The experiment was conducted...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
متن کاملEpistasis in Maize (zea Mays
ISHER (1918) provided a framework for the characterization of genotypic variance whereby he partitioned it into three components: ( 1 ) a portion associated with the average effects of genes, (2) a portion associated with dominance effects (allelic interactions) of genes, and (3) a portion associated with epistatic effects (nonallelic interactions) of genes. A logical method for the further sub...
متن کاملPotassium Management for Improving Growth and Grain Yield of Maize (Zea mays L.) under Moisture Stress Condition
Potassium (K) fertilizer management is beneficial for improving growth, yield and yield components of field crops under moisture stress condition in semiarid climates. Field experiments were conducted to study the response of maize (Zea mays L., cv. Azam) to foliar and soil applied K during summer 2013 and 2014. The experiments were carried out at the Agronomy Research Farm of The University of...
